Rear Seating Positions are Safest
According to accident statistics, in a vehicle with rear designated
seating positions, children are safer when properly restrained in
rear seating positions than in front seating positions. Use only rear
seating positions equipped with three point lap-shoulder belts.
As a rule, if a lap-shoulder seat belt is available, use the rear middle
position. Otherwise, the second choice is the rear outboard position,
on the curb side. If the vehicle has only lap belts in the rear, do not
use this restraint on the rear seat.
